About the Festival

Uganda OffGrid & Roadway Festival

Our Vision

The Uganda OffGrid & Roadway Festival (UORF) is a hands-on learning festival and celebration that brings together innovators, communities, government institutions, enterprises, and development partners to showcase practical solutions shaping sustainable and resilient systems across East Africa.

Rather than a traditional conference or static exhibition, UORF is designed as an immersive, experiential festival where visitors can see, test, learn, and engage directly with real-world innovations. From off-grid living solutions and clean mobility to youth skills, sustainable products, and cultural expression, the festival creates a vibrant environment where ideas move beyond discussion into demonstration and action.

Five Experiential Zones

At the heart of the festival are five experiential zones: the OffGrid Living Village, Roadway Innovation Hub, Tech & Skills Lab, Market & Wellness Zone, and the Culture, Dialogue & Main Stage. Each zone offers practical demonstrations, interactive learning, and community engagement that connect technology, enterprise, and everyday life.

Featured Programmes & Publications

A featured programme, OffGrid Hacks, highlights grassroots ingenuity and problem-solving, showcasing how communities and innovators use locally available materials and creativity to address real challenges in energy, water, mobility, housing, and infrastructure.

The festival also produces The UORF Annual, the official festival publication that captures the region’s ecosystem of off-grid living, sustainable infrastructure, mobility solutions, and innovative enterprises. The publication serves as both a reference guide and a storytelling platform documenting the solutions, people, and partnerships driving East Africa’s transition to resilient and sustainable systems.

By blending innovation, skills, enterprise, and culture, the Uganda OffGrid & Roadway Festival creates a unique platform where communities, policymakers, investors, and solution providers come together to learn, collaborate, and celebrate the future of sustainable living.
